Michael Carter
Contract Specialist I

I was raised in Needles, California and graduated in 1977 from high school. I later spent my young adult years living in San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Las Vegas.

San Francisco by far was my favorite place of residence, for the excitement, beauty and youthful culture. San Diego did have the beautiful beaches, including the Sea World and the world’s famous San Diego Zoo. Getting the monkeys all fired up was my favorite pass time. As for Las Vegas I admired the carefree and fun entertaining features, but I eventually found my way back to the Mohave Valley and Needles region.

After living in the area for a total of 34 years combined I felt a change was needed, I moved to Kingman in 1998. It was too hot in Mohave Valley…it seemed like there was only two-weeks of spring every year. One day it’s 50 degree; next day it’s 110. We had the heat from May into November. Where else in America can you live where you need to run your A/C on Thanksgiving Day?

I met my wife Anna in Kingman and we married in 2000. We live in an old historic house in the downtown area. Historic means variety of different things to people, to me it means three things: repairs, upgrades, and merging the old with the new. One can find me usually at Home Depot or True Value on the weekends. I’m the one standing there in the isle trying to figure how to make a 2009 item replace or work with a circa 1920 item. Appliances and furniture of today are fun to introduce into a house of that era. It’s like introducing an elephant into a doghouse. Besides working on my house I enjoy fishing, bar-b-queuing and my occasional adventures hiking in the desert.
