ASPIN STAFF UPDATE: We are sorry to announce that India Wilson resigned as Member Service Representative. We will be seeking candidates to fill this position.

SHAMROCK FOODS: Please let us know if you are having problems with deliveries and/or products being out of stock. We think we are “over the hurdle” of the opening of school but please keep us informed if you continue to have delivery issues.

RAINBOW PRODUCE PRICES: Pricing for this week is included as an attachment to this update.

DAIRY PRICING: Milk pricing for the month of October for all counties is included as an attachment to this update.

NET OFF INVOICE: All “bank accounts” should now be established for all processors. Thank you to all ASPIN members who are giving this exciting new processing option a try. A bid thank you to Laura Trujillo at Shamrock Foods for making this a reality!

SUNFLOWER SEED SHORTAGE: We have received notification from Azar Food Service that sunflower seeds are in short supply due to poor crop conditions last year. They anticipate shortages throughout October.

STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT: Your statement of account for invoices due ASPIN will be faxed to all members this week. Thank you to all ASPIN members for your timely payment of ASPIN invoices!

ASPIN INVOICES: Please be sure to submit your ASPIN invoices for payment AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! At this time of year, all members are placing large orders and our holding fund gets depleted quickly. We appreciate all ASPIN members paying their ASPIN invoices as quickly as possible, particularly at this time of the year!

UPCOMING EVENT: Mark your calendar now for the Arizona School Food Service Annual Fall Conference and Processed Commodity Workshop. The event will take place at the Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix on November 19th and 20th. SERVE SAFE CLASS: There will be a SERVE-SAFE class offered on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the Mesa Unified District. For more information, contact Bart or Melisa Christian at 520-744-1092 or toll free 888-838-1550.

MOHAVE EXPO: It was great to see so many ASPIN members at the Mohave Expo last week! Thanks to all of you for attending!

SHAMROCK FOODS UPDATE: Shamrock Foods has provided the ASPIN Office with a different order entry system. The ASPIN staff will now again be calling you for “outs” and substitutions. MOHAVE EXPO: The Expo will be held this Friday, September 17th at the Black Canyon Conference Center in Phoenix. We hope to see you there!

ASPIN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING: The next AEC meeting will be at 9:00 am on Friday, September 17th, 2004 at the Black Canyon Conference Center, 9440 N. 25th Ave. Phoenix. All ASPIN members are welcome to attend. The agenda for this meeting is included as an attachment to this update.

PRODUCT CLARIFICATION: Product code #1988941 and #1988951, the quesadilla cheese and chicken are pizza quesadillas. They are shaped like a pizza and do not have the “top” tortilla like a traditional quesadilla. We are working with Shamrock Foods to get pricing for a traditional quesadilla from Coyote Grill.

PRODUCT CHANGE: Watermelon Gatorade has been discontinued. We now have Ice Punch Gatorade, product code #2148031 and it is available at the same bid price.

SMUCKER’S UNCRUSTABLES: Smuckers has been experiencing production difficulties. They may short your processed as well as commercial purchases. If you need to order uncrustables from Shamrock Foods, please give your ASPIN representative a three week lead time to ensure the product will be there when you need it!

ASPIN STAFF CHANGES: ASPIN welcomes India Wilson to our team! India started on Monday, August 30th and will be taking over Sylvia’s member districts. Please help us welcome India to ASPIN!

MOHAVE EXPO: Mark the date! It is not too late to register! The Mohave Expo will be held on Friday, September 17th at the Black Canyon Conference Center in Phoenix. We will be hosting a workshop for ASPIN members! Please plan on attending! We will have more information about the Expo and the ASPIN workshop to you in the near future!
