MOHAVE EXPO: Our annual Mohave Expo is scheduled for Friday, October 27th from 9:00 to 3:00 at the Mesa Convention Center. For more info, check out our website at www.mesc.org. We would love to see you there!

ARIZONA NUTRITION STANDARDS: We have had a lot of questions about the new Arizona Nutrition Standards. (ANS) These standards apply to all k-8 schools in Arizona. It is important to note that the standards apply ONLY to those items you sell a la carte. Your school breakfast and lunch items fall under the School Meals Initiative (SMI) standards. As always, your school meals are analyzed on a weekly basis, not per item. They ONLY part of the ANS that applies to school breakfast and lunch is that you cannot deep fry any of the products.

ORDERS: Thank you to all members for submitting your orders to the ASPIN office as soon as you can. As you know, all of the schools are back and the earlier we receive your order, the better we can be sure you receive all of the product you need.

NEW ADDRESS: Please note that our new address is 4750 N. Oracle Road, Ste. 116, Tucson, AZ 85705. It is important to note that only the ADDRESS changed, we have the same suite number. Please be sure your accounts payable department has our new address.

RAINBOW PRODUCE PRICES: Pricing for this week is included as an attachment to this update.

SHAMROCK PRODUCE PRICES: Shamrock produce pricing is effective from Thursday to Thursday. Please note the dates on the pricing attached with this update.

PRODUCT INFO: Included as an attachment to this update is some product information from Shamrock Foods.

KELLOGG’S PROMOTION: Kellogg’s is offering a promotion for new products on your menu this year. Please see the attachment with this update for more information.

MILK PRICING: Milk pricing for Shamrock Dairy for the month of September for all counties is included as an attachment to this update.

8 OZ. PLASTIC MILK: Shamrock Dairy will be offering low fat milk in 8 oz. plastic bottles this year. THE PRICE FOR ALL FLAVORS WILL BE .2398. The pricing will fluctuate from month to month with the Milk Market Orders, just like the cartons of milk. The dairy anticipates the product will be available within the next couple of weeks.

A LA CARTE PRODUCTS: Attached is a list of products that can be sold “a la carte” in your snack bars. These products do meet the new nutritional guidelines. As you can see some of these products are special order. This means that once ordered it will take 2-3 weeks to be delivered to your sites. If you need further information please contact your ASPIN representative.

FY07 PURCHASE ORDERS: Steven sent a memo to all members regarding purchase orders for the 06/07 school year. Please submit your 07 purchase orders to us so we can process food orders for your district.

ASPIN CPA ADDENDUM: PLEASE NOTE: Many of you have not yet submitted the revised CPA Addendum. It is important that all of our members are covered under the same agreement. The revised CPA Addendum can be downloaded from our website at http://www.mesc.org/aspin_signup.html. We will need each of you to bring this new CPA to your Governing Board for approval. Your current CPA Addendum will remain in effect until the new document is approved. If you have any questions, please call Bette in the ASPIN office. Thank you to those ASPIN members who have already submitted the new CPA Addendum!

ASPIN WELCOMES ANOTHER NEW MEMBER!: Welcome to the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School. We are looking forward to working with Sheila Tarango and her staff this year!

BACK TO SCHOOL: Welcome back! We are looking forward to another successful school year. Bette, Charlene, Steven, Dila and Bob are here to assist you. Together we can make this the best year yet!
