ASPIN STAFF CHANGES: After one year of service, Terry Noel has given her resignation as ASPIN Member Services Representative. Terry has taken another job opportunity that better suits her needs. We want to thank her for her commitment to ASPIN schools! We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavor. We will be advertising for this position and hope to have it filled by the end of July. If you know anyone in the Tucson area that is seeking employment, please have that person contact Bette. Terry’s last day at ASPIN was Friday, June 25th. Sylvia Rios will not be back in the office until August 2nd. Charlene and Bette will be available to serve our members!

ASPIN SUMMER OFFICE HOURS: The ASPIN Office will be open our regular hours all summer. (7:30 – 4:00, Monday - Friday)

IMPORTANT PRODUCT CODE CHANGES: We faxed all ASPIN members last week a list of products that have changed for the 04/05 school year. PLEASE be sure to discard any old order guides and order the products listed on the new guide. The products on the new guide are the ONLY products we have bid pricing for. Thank you to all members for discarding their old order guides!

FOURTH OF JULY: The ASPIN Office will be closed on Monday, July 5th in observance of the 4th of July holiday. Please plan your orders in advance with your ASPIN representative.

MILK PRICING: Milk pricing for the month of July is included as an attachment to this Update.

PURCHASE ORDERS FOR 04/05: Following are the Mohave Contract numbers that you should reference on your purchase orders for next year. Shamrock Foods: 03B-SFC-0326, Shamrock Dairy: 03B-SHAM-0326, Holsum Bakery: 03B-BAKE-0326 and Rainbow Produce: 03B-RAIN-0326. Please forward your purchase orders for Shamrock Foods to Bette and she will reference your purchase order number on ASPIN invoices for Shamrock Foods deliveries.

ASPIN BID RENEWALS: At the June 3rd ASPIN Executive Committee meeting, we accepted renewal pricing from Shamrock Foods, Shamrock Dairy, Holsum Bakery and Rainbow Produce. The Dairy, Holsum and Rainbow have held their same pricing methodology for the 04/05 school year. Shamrock Foods increased some of our pricing but many items have gone down in cost as well! We determined that the price increases we did experience are consistent with the CPI and other inflationary factors. Due to the contract renewal date, the new pricing from Shamrock Foods will be effective as June 7th.

04/05 PRICING: Packets with new order guides and pricing for the 04/05 school year were mailed to all members last week. Please be sure to discard any old order guides!

COMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTOR ANNOUNCEMENT: You all should have received a letter from the Department of Education stating that US Foodservice will be the distributor for USDA commodities. The good news is that rates have gone down! The rates for next year will be $2.74 per case for prep site delivery, $2.59 per case for warehouse delivery and $2.24 per case for pick-up.

SUMMER AASBO CONFERENCE: AASBO is having their summer conference at the El Conquistador Resort in Tucson on July 20th through 23rd. ASPIN will have a booth at the trade show. If you are planning to attend the conference, please be sure to stop by the booth!

MOHAVE EXPO: Mark the date! The Mohave Expo will be held on Friday, September 17th at the Black Canyon Conference Center in Phoenix. We will be hosting a workshop for ASPIN members! Please plan on attending! We will have more information about the Expo and the ASPIN workshop to you in the near future!

SHAMROCK SCHOOL SHOWCASE: Shamrock is sponsoring a school showcase at the Glendale Civic Center on July 14th. Mark your calendars now! Last year’s event was a great success! Registration and more information is included as an attachment to the Update.

SHAMROCK FOOD SHOW: Shamrock is sponsoring a food show at the Phoenix Civic Plaza on August 25th and 25th. ASPIN faxed show registration forms to all ASPIN members a couple of weeks ago. If you did not receive the fax, call your ASPIN representative!

COMMODITY PROCESSING FOR 04/05: As a reminder, the State of Arizona has awarded a bid for processed commodities effective July 1st. All ASPIN members will be required to place their own orders and pay the processor directly for all orders. ASPIN will not be able to pay the processors next year. If you need any help with placing your orders, please call Bette.

04/05 MAINTENANCE FEES: Great news! Due to our membership growth, we are able to reduce maintenance fees for the 04/05 school year by 35 percent for all ASPIN members. We will have your new rates to you by the first week of July!
