HAPPY
HOLIDAYS: All of us in the ASPIN Office
wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday! See you next

NEW
YEAR’S SCHEDULE: The ASPIN Office
will be closed January 1-2 for New Years.
ASPIN
WELCOMES SYLVIA RIOS!: We have hired a
new employee for the position of ASPIN Member Services.
Sylvia Rios will be joining us starting January 12th! Sylvia
has an extensive background in customer service. Please
help us in welcoming Sylvia to the ASPIN team!
PROCESSED
COMMODITY INVOICES: We have finally received
invoices for processed commodities from the vendors. We
will be sending ASPIN invoices this week for these products.
We apologize for the delay in sending some of these invoices
to you.
MILK
PRICING: The pricing for January for Shamrock
Dairy is included as an attachment to this update. Finally,
milk prices are back down!
ASPIN
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING: The next AEC
meeting is scheduled at 9:00 am on Thursday, February 12,
2004 at Shamrock Foods Company. All ASPIN members are welcome
to attend.
ASPIN
ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING: The
date has been set for our Annual ASPIN Advisory Committee
Meeting. Mark your calendars now for Thursday, February 12,
2004. Please plan on attending! We will be holding elections
for the AEC. All members can vote but you must be present
to vote! The meeting will start at 10:00 am at Shamrock Foods
Company, 2250 N. 29th Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85009. We are planning
a fun filled day! Don’t forget if you are interested
for running for the AEC, please let Bette know.
SHAMROCK
FOODS UPDATE: Shamrock
Foods will be ready to “test” the discount method for processed
commodities beginning in January. This method of commodity
processing will allow ASPIN members and other schools in
Arizona to order “processed” commodities through
commercial distribution. This is a very exciting new option
for processed commodities. As we move further into the “test” phase,
we will keep you posted about processed commodity options
for next school year. We want to thank the staff at Shamrock
Foods for their commitment to this project!
ARIZONA
LAC: The Arizona School Food Service Association
will be sponsoring an Arizona Legislative Action Conference
in Phoenix on February 9th and 10th. Mark your calendars
now! The registration information is included as an attachment
to this update.

following product has a pack size and price change. The price
per unit remains the same. #0878171 Hoagie Rolls 36ct has
changed to #2100641 Hoagie Roll 60ct $16.20 for both State
and Valley.

increase as of December 15, 2003. This price increase meets
the terms and conditions of our contract with Shamrock Foods.

AzSFSA
SALVATION ARMY PROJECT: The Arizona School
Food Service Association is asking for our help for those
ASPIN members that live in the Valley. The “project” details
are included as an attachment with this update.
ASPIN
ELECTIONS: Next
spring we will be holding elections at our annual Advisory
Committee Meeting for our Executive Committee. If you are interested
in serving a two year term on our Executive Committee, or would
like more information, please contact Bette. Serving on our
Executive Committee is an excellent opportunity to become more
involved with YOUR cooperative!
FRENCH
FRY CUTTING: Shamrock Foods is sponsoring
a French fry “class” on Thursday, December 11th
at 10:00 at Shamrock Foods. All ASPIN members are welcome
to attend. The invitation for the cutting is included as
an attachment to this update.
PRODUCT
TESTING AND SAMPLING: Jeanne
Gallagher with Food Service Sales has offered to have regional
product testing and sampling for our outlying districts. Jeanne
has offered to travel to all of the counties in an effort to
have more ASPIN members be able to test and try new products.
If you are interested in having one of your schools “host” a
mini food show for ASPIN members, please contact Bette.
COLD
STORAGE PRICING: Cold Storage Pricing for
the month of November is attached to this update.
SFNS CREDENTIALING: There
