HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ALL OF US AT ASPIN: Bette, Charlene and Terry wish all of our members a safe and pleasant Thanksgiving! Don’t forget, the ASPIN Office will be closed Thursday and Friday this week for the Thanksgiving holiday!

LETTUCE PRICES ARE DOWN SOME!: Iceberg and Romaine lettuce prices have gone back down. The “cut” products are still stable in price. We will continue to watch the lettuce pricing for our members and let you know if prices rise again.

AzSFSA SALVATION ARMY PROJECT: The Arizona School Food Service Association is asking for our help for those ASPIN members that live in the Valley. The “project” details are included as an attachment with this UPDATE.

ASPIN ELECTIONS: Next spring we will be holding elections at our annual Advisory Committee Meeting for our Executive Committee. If you are interested in serving a two year term on our Executive Committee, or would like more information, please contact Bette. Serving on our Executive Committee is an excellent opportunity to become more involved with YOUR cooperative!

FRENCH FRY CUTTING: Shamrock Foods is sponsoring a French fry “class” on Thursday, December 11th at 10:00 at Shamrock Foods. All ASPIN members are welcome to attend. The invitation for the cutting is included as an attachment to this UPDATE.

PRODUCT TESTING AND SAMPLING: Jeanne Gallagher with Food Service Sales has offered to have regional product testing and sampling for our outlying districts. Jeanne has offered to travel to all of the counties in an effort to have more ASPIN members be able to test and try new products. If you are interested in having one of your schools “host” a mini food show for ASPIN members, please contact Bette.

SFNS CREDENTIALING: There will be a credentialing exam in Phoenix on February 9th. When we receive more information from AzSFSA, we will let you know the details!

ARIZONA LAC: The Arizona School Food Service Association will be sponsoring an Arizona Legislative Action Conference in Phoenix on February 9th and 10th. Mark your calendars now! When we receive more info, we will publish it on the website!

SERVE-SAFE CLASSES: Do you have staff members that are in need of Servc-Safe certification? Please notify Bette if you would like ASPIN to arrange for a Serve-Safe certification course to be offered in January.
